Summer of Science Program

The University of Maine Cooperative Extension 4-H is offering a free three-week session in its Summer of Science program at the Cushing Public Library for ages 7-12, beginning Friday, July 26, at 1:30 p.m.  Using the Engineer Design Process, participants will act as pirates seeking hidden treasure while learning the science of ocean waters.  The topics are Seaweed Filter, Layers of the Ocean and Salt Water Density. Kathryn Jensen will lead each one-hour session. Subsequent meetings will be on August 2 and 9 at the same time. The 4-H is providing all materials.

The Library is fortunate to be a participant in this state-wide program as part of its educational service to the community, which has included public lectures on diverse topics and children’s math and reading activities. Attendance is limited, so it is recommended to sign up quickly at the Library’s front desk or by phone at 354-8860.
